A question often asked by high school seniors when filling out college application forms is whether the student will be an entering freshman or transfer student. There is often confusion because the student has taken concurrent enrollment courses while in high school that will "transfer" to the college(s) they are looking at.

A freshman student is defined as:
Freshmen are students who have not completed any college/university work following high school graduation or who took concurrent enrollment courses while still in high school.

A transfer student is defined as:
Transfer applicants are students who attended one or more college or university after completion of secondary education/high school.

Students who have completed at least 24 or more semester credits from a college or university after high school will usually not have to submit a high school transcript and/or ACT score. Transfer students who have less than 24 credits may have to submit a high school transcript and/or ACT score.
